I don’t know what to say…

carter If you live in the dfw area, you probably already know the horrible news that Carter Albrecht was killed. We weren’t close, but we shared a mutual respect of each others music. A lot of folks met up at the Barley House last night and Everyone was shocked by the news that he’s gone.

He was a wonderfully talented guy and I was excited and thrilled when he offered to play keys on our first cd. He didn’t just come into the studio, noodle around and follow chord progressions as many session players are prone to do. No, he took his time, learning the tunes and adding / creating parts that made the song better.

I’ll never forget the time he was learning ‘Margaret the Liar’. The song was already over the top and he came up with these wild piano runs at the end of it. We just let him sit at the grand piano, he rehearsed and rehearsed it, making each pass more complex and invigorating. Before we had recorded a note, I knew the song would be our crowd fave. Paul and I let out a collective ‘Hell Yeah’ when he was done.

I’ll miss you Carter, I wish I got to know you better.
